Hi, i have been looking at getting a new rad, any i looked at had top hose on passenger side. Mine is on drivers. Is this a smallblock rad?. Car is a 72 satellite with 440 Rb engine. Car running a bit hot, think rad is blocked, which rad would you guys suggest for maximum cooling. Thanks Mitch

If you can find a shroud that will fit your rad & a properly spaced thermal clutch fan you may be Ok as is. When does it run a bit hot? idleing, slow speeds, high speeds. Might take the stat out for 1 day.

Hi, car runs at 200-220, spikes sometimes to 240, i have two 12" electric pusher fans. still stays at 200. idle or driving at 60mph. Only have 3 3/4" clearance between pulley and rad. was thinking a fixed fan maybe?

I'd toss the stat for one day. It might be partially stuck & if so it'd be an easy fix. No issue w the timing/mixture & plugs look OK? Has it always ran slightly hot or was it OK & gradually deteriorated? At 60 mph I would assume no lack of airflow but nothing is keeping the air from reaching the fins? www.speedwaymotors.com and others have universal alum 3 core radiators for reasonable money. EDIT Read the "shorter fan clutch" thread on this page.

I pulled thermostat, no difference. car has ran hot since i bought it. one thing i noticed is that my distributor has no vacuum advance. I set timing at 12 deg, plugs looked ok.

If your mechanical adv is Ok yes I would be inclined to suspect the rad.
