I will buy the correct ones but just wondering which is prefered flat top and reduce the chamber size or dome.

A small dome will make good compression with a b1. It actually will end up being a net 0 or less due to the large valve reliefs required on a B1 head. When you say a lot of compression what do you mean? One mans lot is another mans minimum
I'm running 13.5 right now but maybe more is better

That's fine for alky. You can run more, but it's not neccessary especially since your not looking at a MAX EFFORT build. You'll end up with a dome piston. I don't like milling the heads, you lose deck strength, V/P clearance, manifold fit, etc...
I ran a dome last time but I thought I read on here that most guys cut them for a smaller chamber and flat tops. I'm willing to do all the fitment if it is the best way to go.

With out 496 were 14.5/1 compression on gas. The 636 is 15.5/1 on the alchy You will se a world of difference with the b1'S!!! Poor stock block

Yes stock block Doug. That is why I want to keep things conservative.

Make sure you fill it, girdle, and alum caps, rods. After i did all that my stock block seemed to hold fine in the 496. 800-850hp range. Im sure you gonna see that or 900hp with the b1's
I be happy with 800 Doug. Did I say that
