dont know if this will help but...

i have a scoop - not sealed to carb.

My car ET's the same with or without an air cleaner .

Also ET's the same with a $40 fancy filter or a $3 paper filter .

The right air flter assembly will help the car go faster, even the air filter base without the rest of the filter can help in a car with no scoop or fresh air With a scoop on a Holley carb the filter can make a substantial gain in many cases, large diameter and a drop base to get the most hieght on the filter element helps, the K&N Extreme lids help also

Hey Cab - on the Demon - I don't have enough clearance between my carbs and scoop for an air cleaner. However, there is an in-scoop filter that mounts in the front ofthe scoop - not over the carbs. Does that type show a performance improvement as well?

I have no idea on that as I have not ran a car like yours or any other car with ascoop that needed a scoop type filter, sorry

I found that when I run the base plate only is gives me the best et's (in my old cars) haven't tryed it yet w/ the 6 pack. That said I have read that a system like the K&N w/ the draw thru lid is just as good or better. Plus you don't have to worry about dirt. And yes fresh air helps a lot to. Buddy went from 14.22 to 13.84 just by removing the stock air cleaner and sealing his carb to the hood scoop.

i do not have a hood scoop but i finally got my 14x3 air cleaner to fit my 65 dart.just want to know if i should be prepaired to change the jets in the carb? i bought a jegs aluminum lid and base with a cleanable air element.i had one of those edelbrock heart shaped air cleaners on it and everyone said it will cut back on performance so i always ran it without an air cleaner on it at the track. Brad

Run it the way it is first, look at the time slip and the spark plugs and tune from there
