No not me, I am still overweight! Had the car soda blasted and lost four coats of paint along with a load full of bondo. New wheel lips and rear drivers lower quarter panel will be going on. I will update more pictures as they become available.

They are older Monocoque wheels. Brad Spurlock is the soda blaster and is located in the Charleston, WV area and has a mobile unit. I would not suggest to soda blast a car that was together. The soda gets in every corner or crevice. Brad blew it out with his compressor but I still used a shop vac and blew it out a few more times. Do your homework on the prep after soba blasting also. The soda leaves a film that you have to clean off before applying a sealer. There have been issues with primer not adhering if not prepped correctly. There is a company that makes a prep that is called Holdtight 102 that guys are using and I just ordered a gallon.

The soda blaster said that all you had to do was clean the panels with warm water and dawn detergent but I am not taking any chances. I don't have extra money to blow on sealing the car twice.

I looked for quite some time trying to find someone that soda blasted in my area. I would suggest to talk to some of the car restoration or rod shops in your area to see if they know of someone. I called a Charleston powder coating company and they referred me to this guy. Fortunatly he lived only about 60 miles from me and had a mobile unit and he did it on a pad next to my detached garage. If you live close to other houses don't even try it because it does creates a lot of soda dust in the area depending upon the wind.

Enquiring minds want to know ... what's a job like that cost?

I've seen where they go over the whole car afterwards with scuff pads in angle grinders to prep the surface after soda blasting however I've always been curious about how they scuff all the nooks and crannies. Maybe the soap thing would be better after all. And then doesn't the water dissolve the soda, so you wouldn't have to worry about any loose stuff.

It varies depending upon where you live. It is around $700.00 to $850.00 for the exterior of the car. If they are doing the inside and the undercarriage the price is around $1300-$1500 locally. The guy that soda blasted mine does not do the under carriage unless it is on a rotiserrie. If you decide to get a car soda blasted do it by the job and not by the hour. The soda blaster kept on telling me that my car was toughest he had ever ran into for getting the paint off. It usually takes a guy 5-8 hours to complete a mid size car. It took the soda blaster two visits and around 12-13 hours due to 4 coats of paint and the thickness of bondo on drivers side.

I read that article and it was one of the reasons I went with the holdtight 102. It is all about the prep after soda blasting.
