A well built glide will definitely hold up in a car that heavy. I would say a 1.80 straight cut gear would be good idea though.

nope unless your an ET chaser . still ok for brackets
do some research
Have and wouldn't run a 2-speed in any car that heavy....even bracket racing
I do agree on the T-400 though

I just don't get it. Everyone wants to abandon the 727. You can go to a transmission parts supplier and get a clutch and seal kit for $100. Buy a billet drum for safety and a truck planetary for reliability. The two will cost $1,000. If you don't already have a good valve body then that is why you have burnt clutches. Tranzact would be my choice. Any Mopar junkie who has built their own 727 successfully can easily handle the build.
Ask your self this simple question. If torqueflites are such a peice of crap then why do the majority of comp guys run them even in the Chevies?
But, If you want a great powerglide I have two to choose from. With more tricks than you can imagine in them. Be glad to sell you one or even both of them.

Hmm, could be the torque converter if you lost all gears.
1st gear worked for a little while, just enough so I did not have to push the car into the garage. But I had to rew the engine really high to get the car moving and keep rews high to keep it moving..
The whole thing happend on my way to the race track. It is a 60mile highway drive. I have a trans cooler, etc..

CRT Super pro II with transbrake 3640$ + shiping
ATI Pro Glide + Adaptor case 3720$ + new converter + new driveshaft + shiping
any questions???
Yeah, you forgot to mention that to get an equal to the Pro-flite you need a $7000 Rossler. I really don't understand why the push to convert everyone that mentions a 727 to gm transmissions.
