i just installed a east coast mini 1 wire alternator, ran it directly to the cutoff switch. turn off switch car still runs. then i tried wire directly to the battery ,turned off kill switch, car still runs. i removed voltage regulator, car still runs with kill switch off. i tried to disconnect ballast resistor wires, car wont start, how do i eliminate the ballast resistor and still get the car to stay running ,then turn off kill switch and get the car to turn off. im thinking something is wired wrong from the MSD 7AL-2. im lost with electronics.

Sounds like you wired it to the wrong side of the kill switch?
Seems like when I did it we wired it from the alt to the starter lug.
yup. alt wire goes to the battery side. if it goes to the other, the alt will always make power to run the ignition when the motors running

If i put a test light on the battery side, off side switch, the test light stays lit. are you saying to put the alt. wire on the off side of the kill switch. all the other wires are on the on side of the kill switch. also how do i eliminate the ballast resistor and get the car running?

yes. jump the wires going to the ballast resister with a piece of wire with two spade terminals on each end of the jumper wire

if i want to eliminate the ballast resistor and wires how do i do it? i want to clean up all the wires in the engine bay as well.
take the wires off both sides of the ballast resistor. then connect those wires together (typically by using a jumper wires that has two spade terminals that plug into the wires female terminals)

Both of our MSD's 7al and 6 al came with cables to go from ignition box to coil without resistor.

Yep.
The MSD system should not share ANY of the original wiring from the vehicle. If you do you are welcoming problems. Make a harness from the box to the battery, the coil and the distributor. The only wire that should be remotely connected to the car is the 12V triger wire. I generally will pick up a switched power source from the ignition switch feed.
