The STREET car has become fast enough to where I need to address the rear suspension, if I want to launch consistantly at the strip.. Currently, I have 8 inch wheels (3.5 backspace) and air shock to keep them from rubbing..

In order to get adjustable shocks, I'll have to move the rubber inwards and wanted to know whats the largest wheel and proper backspacing I can use??

I'm thinking 10" wheels with a 5.5 inch back space.. does this sound about right? or will I have other unforeseen problems?

Thanks

If you are mini-tubbed to the frame with the springs moved in, then it should be 15x10 w/ 7.5"bs

No.. no mini-tub and the springs are not relocated..

I'm pretty sure the 15x8 with 4.5 backspacing will work, but before I fork out the money for new wheels, I would like to know how large others have been able to put on their Dusters/Demons..

Thanks

Most Stock class racers use a 10" wheel with 9" slicks with a stock spring location. But its's all very close and you have to watch backspacing as well as varying tire section widths of each tire you consider because they can vary despite a common tread width.

I have 10" Holeshot Wheels with 9" Hoosier slicks on my car, but also have the springs moved in 3/4" because IHRA allows it.

Offset to the inside appears to be 4 7/8". From the mounting surface to the inner rim lip. Not sure if you might have to consider 3 7/8" with springs in the stock location.

Holeshot normally makes wheels in 1" increment offsets (i.e.: 3 7/8", 4 7/8", 5 7/8", etc.) But they can fine-tune those measurements, if those might be an option.

I don't think you can get anything more than a 9 inch tire in there, you can only get 8.5 in a dart

I have a stock suspension Duster, i have been able to fit 10 inch wheels with 5.5 bs and 28 by 11.5 QTP tires(true 10 inch wide)...you need wheel spacers to do this.. i had my dana made .5 of an inch wider per side to get rid of the spacers i used with my 8.75 rear.It will work like i currently have it with wheel spacers..going from 8 inch to 10 inch wheels made a huge dfferece on my high 9 sec car....

Iv'e used 4 7/8 backspaced (8.5"Centelines though) and fit absolutley like a glove with the leaf springs in stock location. Im quite sure thats the limit before the tires contact the springs and you don't want to run wheel spaces thats a big no no. I think a 8.5" rim is fine for what you need. Heres a pic of the c/ls with 3300lb super stock springs. this car has 60' a 1.46 with a 7" rim on a 10.5 tire.
