I have purchased the Year One Engine wiring for a 70 Challenger with a 440 and A/C. The wire end by the RH side of the carb is just a rubber-sleeved post receptacle (female side). The car only has the fast-idle solenoid and the metal tab for solenoid is not compatible with the wire connection on the engine harness. I contacted Evan's Wiring and bought an end that he said should be spliced in. It is the same as what is on a 6-pack car for the solenoid.
My original harness was all messed up, so I don't have any reference, other than some pictures from other cars. It seems that the 6-pack type end (90 degree 'L') isn't what is supposed to be used in this application.
Anyone have pictures or history wiring in the fast idle solenoid for a 70 (early production, if that matters) e-body with a 440?
Before I start cutting and splicing I want to be extra sure.

If it is incorrect contact Tom at M&H, he will make it right.

Thanks
This is the detail I was looking for.
Where does the black wire come from? I don't see that in the wiring diagram.
The blue wire end is what I was thinking was supposed to be there, not the one I have ('L'). That's what I will need to splice in.

Do you have contact information for Tom, or should I just look him up?

The black wire goes to the retard solenoid on the distributor.

So, if I am putting in an Electronic Distributor, where would the black wire go?
Thanks Guys.

Also, as it is an A/C car, someone thought that the fast idle should kick in when the A/C compressor is engaged. I don't see that mapped in the electric circuit, though.

If your distributor does not have the solenoid, remove the brass cap and black wire from your carb solenoid. They are not needed.

On the subject of solenoid wiring but different
application. I have an A12 solenoid with a hex
cap & dist. terminal but the dist. does not
have the retard control. I've never seen an
A12 with a retard distributor. Anyone else
run across this?

What is the part number stamped on the solenoid barrel?

That's a 70-71 440-6 solenoid.
69 1/2 440-6 is DR1114420

Shouldn't the 70-71 have a round top on the
plunger?? And what's up with hex cap and
the dist.wire terminal?? The lower terminal
is pointed in the right direction for 70-71.
I had parts from both 69 & 70, but the dist.
terminal,I don't understand. I don't think
any 6 packs, 69 or 70 had a timing retarded
distributor.......

Some of the 70-71 440-6's had the retard solenoid on the distributor.
I think the distributors were used after Jan 1, 1970.

Check hamtramck-historical.com for information on the distributors.
