Hello, I have a 76 coronet cop car, it will not start, it acts just like a bad ballast resistor, but it is good, you know starts when in the start position but dies when in the run position, any ideas? Could it be the ingition module? I have never had one do this. Jim

You have two ignition spots and wires in the ignition switch. Make sure you are getting power from the switch to the ballast in the run position.

Check for power at the coil too.

Connect the coil direct to battery with a temporary cable - just to test if it's about an electrical issue.

(Well, and of course start the engine then and see if it runs...)

After all these years having a 440 I realized that this means having an attitude... and a budget.

Yep some of the 70's distributors had dual pick ups, one for start and one for run.

you can switch the conectors around and see if it started when you let off the key, I have seen a couple of those run / start pickups fail on just one side
