I would like to know what would be the best solid cam for a street/strip cuda/challenger car with performer rpm manifold ported 915 or 906 heads 3.91-4.10 gears most likely stroked. Any tried and proven set ups out there say from 1500-6500 rpm range that will pull hard all the way through? Thanxs

Yea! AndyF did a great write up on this and I am considering it. 383man is using the .557 cam with good results but I want to go deeper in this conversation you know where no mans gone before! What about the comp and racer brown cams? My heads are not going to be hogged out but will be using the 2.14/1.81 valves with the usual blending and minor porting. I am also really interested in the E85 thing but that a another posting.

I'm running this cam with 10.3 to 1 compression/915's/backyard ported w/2.14/188 valves. This is speaking from experience, It's a runner on 93 pump gas w/a 850DP and performer rpm. You won't be dissapointed.

I am running a Straightline Cam 234/242@.050 540/525 solid with 112 lsa built by Scott Brown. I love the torque. You might also think about a Comp Cam Xe282.

Don't know if it's the best but it worked for me.
I had an Ultradyn .590-.613 work real well for
my big 65 sport Fury. Street or strip in ran good
for four years. I had the MP open M-1, but the
Eddie RPM is good to 6500 rpm. I had Jason Line
ported 452 irons, he said they flow just as good
as any 915, 906 iron head. I would shift at 5900
and go through the trap at 6300 short on power.
The 4.88 Dana 60 was geared to low for the 31X18.5
QTP's. On Line's dyno the peak HP was at 5900 and
peak TQ was around 4500-4600. I would go to high
a gear before going to low, next time.
For a 440 it ran good, 11.16 at 118 in a 4000 lb
car. A Cuda/Challenger I think would be 200-400
lbs lighter. Do up a 511 stroker and put a .600
lift cam in it. The motor will run just fine on
the street. At the track, it should go easy mid
to low 10's.

I'm running the 528 in this 440-6. Nice cam. Good amnners. I went a little tighter on the lash. Seems to pull pretty good although I do have some more tuning to do.

There's no best cam. It depends on the rest of your combo. How many cubes and how many rpm max you want to turn?

The MP .528 solid is a good choice but if you want something special then call Dwayne at Porter Racing Heads and buy what ever he recommends.

Since you're in Portland you can also come down to my shop and buy something I have on the shelf. I have a bunch of BB Mopar cams, some used, some new. I have several smaller flat tappet cams that would work with your combination.

I also ran the UD 590/613 in a 440 with 906's that flowed ~280cfm. I didn't have the right converter (a 3000), but the engine always seemed to rev really quick. I got a 4000 stall in the car and then promptly blew it up b4 I got to test it much. IMO you'd be unhappy with that cam without a big converter, it always pulled hard against the 3000 and I had to 2 foot it.
