On my second attempt at building this 422" small block after the last block turned out to be junk, and waiting on push-rods overnight I got it fired up Saturday for the first time at about 12:00. I reset the valves, changed the oil and loaded the car and took it out to the races. It was a local bracket race and I had Gold Cards to use so it was free. Car ran very well for the first time out and not doing any tuning to it all night. Ran a best of [Email]6.23@107.75[/Email] in the 1/8th. Had a malfunction in the burn out box second round of Footbrake and before I could figure it out they sent the other car on a solo pass. Ended up getting to the final in Footbrake Quick but fell asleep and was late in the final and lost. Put 10 runs on the car and was surprised at how consistent it was out of the box. I think there is still quite a bit left in it.

Well I had a couple of things to fix this past week on the Dart. I had a small oil leak and the shifter cable was out of adjustment. The shifter cable is why the car seemed to be running through the convertor, it wasn't it was just slipping into gear. Went out and went 6.22@108 with a 1.350 60' this Saturday. Weather got worse all day so that was my best pass. I think I'm a little lean still but the car runs great. Went to two finals and won one and lost the other. First win for the Dart and I after four finals. Good day to say the least!

I plan to take it out this Wednesday for a true T&T session. Hopefully will decrease my e.t. by a bit with some timing, jetting, carb changes. Will keep you guys updated.
