So i was driving lastnight and I smelt coolant in the air. Eventually my temp started to rise and thats when i thought maybe I blew a head gasket or something.

When I pulled over though the coolant steam was coming through my interior vents. I pulled the two 2inch hoses off the vents from under the dash and pointed them out the windows as to allow the steam to vent outside.

I'm assuming it's my heater core that went, so now I have to tackle that.

I was wondering if I can put a small piece of tubing between the water outlet and inlet just for the time being so i can limp it home as it's about 50 miles from home at a buddies house and i don't want to pay for the tow if i don't have to.

Does anybody see this as a possible harmful thing to do?

This car has given me SOOOO many problems this summer it's starting to get a bit ridiculous.

Sure can, or clamp off both heater hoses, it'll be fine.
