Okay the Duster is mostly a Drag car with a sometimes blast down the street. I'm wondering would putting a power valve on the primary side help it at the track. Its a dommy. has anyone tried back to back tests with a power valve and without.. Thanks...

We usually discard the powervalves and plug the hole on race dominaters carbs with 3 circuts bleeds. We find more positive control of air/fuel and distribution through orfice sizing rather than letting the engine decide it's needs.Too often cam, cylinder signal and all around engine efficiency will play havoc with a power valve especially at idle and off idle.It eliminates one more area that causes problems.Understand that we are in no way saying that PVs are not useful and an effective way of tuning,we have used them in street and strip engines with smaller carbs and cams and with multipal carbs. If they tune effectively we leave them in and adjust for vacume pull.If the idle continues to be erratic that's the first change we make after checking all other adjustments.

Not all Dominator carbs. come with metering blocks that use power valves, does yours? I like to use power valves in the carbs that I can because that allows me to use a smaller primary jet which keeps the mixture leaner at part throttle which helps prevent fouling the spark plug I have also ran several differnent #9375(non HP) 1050 Dominator that don't come with power valves and ran them that way on bracket cars, I never foul a plug in those motors I didn't try converting them to power valves so no before or after results.

Unless modified most all 3 circut Holley HP Dominators have the same fuel distribution blocks and orfices with the exception of the PV slots or windows.

A power valve is a good idea if you're going to be driving on the street. Some metering blocks allow you to change jets in the PVCR so you can dial in the fuel curve.

If you have metering blocks like that then you use the main jets to tune the mid-range and use the PVCR jets for WOT. Most drag racers don't do it that way but it is the way to go if you want a really crisp engine over the entire rpm range.
