I have the pertronix on all of my cars which used to have points and it has worked excellently for me. I think the one in my valiant must be almost 15 years old now and still works great.

Pertronix converted distributors, the only way to go, the Factory or MP electronic ignition is just frought with to many componets, destined to fail, the Pertronix if installed correctly with the required componets, is very reliable, and trouble free, the car starts better, runs better, the cap stays clean, no carbon tracking, no pitting/burning on the rotor, and the benefit of getting rid of the ballast resistor is another plus,....until something else comes along better, the Pertronix is all I'll run,......got tired of "foolin" with all the other crap over the years Mike

I should have clarified in my earlier post, Pertronix Ignitor II systems are what I run in my stuff,.....Have no interest in going to the Pertronix III billet distributors, but the guys I know running them, love'em

Had Pertronix conversion kit on my car for several years...had several coils go out. Switched to mopar elect ignition for last few years..no problems! Just chance or what? i dont know..but it has me thinking that the petronix was possible killing coils maybe?
What brand of coil? How much voltage did you have at the coils? Did you bypass the ballast resistor?
The ignitor I, II, and III require a certain voltage at the coil. I'll admit I burned up a Pertronix coil, but it was my fault for not doing a loaded voltage test.

i use a 35.00 rebuilt dis from oreillys,vac-adv removed hooked to a 6al,you just unhook the condenser, throw it out and run the wire from the points to the 6al,the points no longer have fire they are only a trigger devise,it works great, its the first diagram in the 6al manual, now you have a 1 wire dissy, the guy in texas at msd, says its a great way to runem,my
