I have a 1958 Belvedere 2 door. It originally came with a 6 cyl 3 speed on the column. It now has a 383 with 727 auto & custom floor shifter set up. It also has a (newer 60's?) Mopar sure grip rearend with rear brake cables set-up at each rear wheel.
My dilema is this: can anyone tell me what other Mopar car cables I can use/swap to make the set-up work with my 58 Belvedere? VERY MUCH APPRECIATE any help. Thanks, Ed

Are the rear brake cables the same length or is the right side longer and crosses over to the left side?

My 56 plymouth had 3 spd manual shift ,now has 440 and 727 with B&M floor shifter..It has later model 8 3/4 rear with emergency brake cables coming off the rear drums like yours does ..Inside is a hand pull emergency brake ..The cable is a little too shout to reach the rear cables..I simply added a length of flat stock and made them to fit the cables...been working for 3 years..

Hi John. On the rearend, there is one long cable from pass side & one short from drivers side. The front cable is the original front cable from the handle inside. Please let me know your input, any help is very much appreciated. Thanks, Ed

I finally got my emergency brake cables hooked up & working good on my 58 Belvedere. I bought a cables set for a mid 60's C body car from http://www.inlinetube.com (check'em out). The rear cables worked good, but I had to modify the front one slightly. I had to take the part that mounts on the hand lever under the dash off my old original cable by drilling a hole on the side top & then "slicing" it down the same side from the drilled hole to the cable ball with an air wheel cutter. I slipped off the old cable & slipped on the new. I also had to make 2 brackets to mount the cables under the car on the frame in the front & rear. Everything is working good now! Thanks for the input everyone!
