I have heard that you can't run a turbo on a HEMI, cause the way the heads are made. Is there any truth to that.. JUst thinking about a future project.. Thanks..

I am not sure I can give you the definitive answer. However from what I have read, seen, and experienced ANY engine can be turbocharged. The limiting factor comes down to detonation. That as I'm sure you know is related to compression, fuel and many other factors unrelated to turbo's. I would think a Hemi would really respond well to turbocharging with its efficient ports. The boost limit will again be determined by the detonation threshhold, but I have to believe with a well done system you would make serious power. Sounds like fun, good luck. I just got my twin turbo 451 wedge running, but I'm still working through some teething issues unrelated to the turbo's, otherwise I could give you an idea of expected power. Again, good luck.

why not? boost is boost. They seem to take S/C's well. Not sure whay a turbo wouldn't work.

Any engine CAN be turbocharged. Whoever told you that you cant turbocharge a Hemi becuase of the heads has no idea what they are talking about.

Hemi's lend themself well to any kind of forced induction, which is why they have been BLOWN for so many years.

Hemifred's twin turbo hemi makes over 2000 horsepower.

11.48 @ 120 with a 1.80 60' 318, stock 1.88 heads, stock 904, Pump Gas, 13 lbs of boost.

9.94 @ 134, 318 on pump gas, 14 lbs w/ Eddies, transbrake 727, 3600 lbs, 3.54 gear and 28's.

We were told Hemis don't like Nitrous too. We went 9.25@ 149.5 weighing 3470 on a 24 jet spinning the tires. LOTS left in it.

That truck is out of TX. They were doing shake downs at HMP when I was there one night. That truck flat out hauls.

It is owned by brothers, sad they need to sell it. one of the brothers was clipped by a car on his motorcycle and last I heard was not doing well. But that was 5-6 months ago maybe longer.

I think a turbo would be much better on an engine than a Roots type blower/supercharger. The efficiency of the centrifugal compressors are much better than a Roots. That generates much less heat in the air stream which leads to detonation. I think that was why a lot of the TF guys went to the screw type compressor years ago, better efficiency. I don't think they were as good as the centrifugal design though.
