Here's a new driver to run the fifth Force car. It's Cousin Eddie complete with diving attire!

That is one of the reasons that I don't even attend NHRA National events anymore. I was at every Indy from 1967 through 1992, and you could see this coming.

It isn't the sport I grew to love in the sixties.

The difference is that normal, everyday working folk sold their souls to race back then. Now it's just a matter of who the oil company, beer company, car manufacturer or oil sheik picks to run their junk.

I was in a meeting when Eddie Hills name was brought up as a possible shoe for the Mopar topfuel team. He was denied that chance because they didn't like his beard and thought Tommy Johnson Jr looked more "GQ" and presentable. It's not about racing people, it's about marketing and big money. Grass roots drag racing like Steve remembers has been dead for a long time in the NHRA.

I was going to attend the US Nats, but decided to watch the heads-up race at Milan. I miss not seeing the Hemi car shootout, but the racing at Milan was great and cost a LOT less money.

that pretty much summed it up, we are our own worst enimies. remember when the driver actually worked on and tuned the cars? then we wanted sponsor money, and got it. that was the beginning of the end of real racing. now it's all a big money dog and pony show. I don't blame force if he took the dive. it's his team car thats why he gets the big bucks.

That's a sad state of drag racing if it's moved away from racing to entertainment. Maybe they should present John with a really HUGE BELT with fake diamonds glued to a plate sized buckle?

i think its now a business, and no offense to those that feel that the "fans" deserve something better, but the fans names arent on the side of the car, and JFR, KBR, DSR and all the other teams dont have a contract with the fans... get the Autoclub car into the top ten thats what they needed to do, and it got done.
I would have done the same thing... for those that dont think it happens all the time, youre delusional.

If what Pedregon said is true then he is two faced. If he threw races so that John could win when he drove for him then he should not be on his high horse now about how wrong it is. He should have spoken up then and refused to do it. But he did it to keep his job. He is only pissed about it now because it knocked his brother out of the chase.

I was very disapointed in Force but it is understandable in today's WWE errr NHRA.I thought that Cruz was going to show how classy he was but he buckled when they threw the race. The real blame goes to NHRA.The chase is a joke.Besides I watched the whole deal and only heard 10 sec about any sportsman racing. That is a disgrace and a slap in the face of all drag racers. No wonder PINKS is such a big hit.

Today's BIG money changes everything...there isn't ONE sport today that's "the same" as it was in the old days, right? Motorsports and Drag Racing are no different.

I don't agree with taking a dive. If Robert was going to get in, he should have done it on performance; not by the luck of racing another team car who was in that position.

The REALLY SAD part is that if Robert and Prock race their hearts out and win the Championship, it will be forever tainted.

I'm glad I wasn't Force today...talk about the hot seat.

But I also don't agree with T-Ped running his mouth when no one asked. If Cruz would have performed better this year, he wouldn't have needed a break by Robert not getting it done. He can't WHINE about Force having 4 cars, either. It's within the rules. I know he's the little guy and having money problems, but IF...IF IF IF he was as good at putting together the deals that Force has, he'd have 4 cars in a hot minute. Wha, wha, wha...

Of course Dunn was right. Force knows the deal about dives...there was NO WAY they were going to give NHRA anything to see. He's too savvy for that.

I also hope John is fined BIG for putting his hands on the NHRA guy during the "discussion" with Tony.

Meanwhile, CONGRATS to Ashley, Guido and the team for a well deserved FC win at INDY!!

Oh, but they do. If they are going to take the fans' $100 bill for a top of the line seat on race day, they owe the fans a show with integrity and professionalism, without the fans the pro dog and pony show doesn't exist.

Let see you benefit from these tactics for years and never open your mouth. It gets you a championship and your own ride and now that it bites your brother in the a$$ you want to complain??? Sorry it does not work that way....it reminds me of the politicians and the Iraq....cant have it both ways or you are a hypocrite.

Anyone that has a brain bigger than a gnat knew exactly what was going to happen. NHRA did not say it was a good run they just said there was not conclusive evidence to over turn the run....does that surprise anybody??

You could say the same thing about the FC final. Amazing that Roberts car blew up before the finish line huh?? Can you say inconclusive proof....imagine that!

There is no way to stop it unless you limit each car owner to one car per class.....do that and you will not have enough TF or FC cars to race. It is here to stay, so accept it or don't watch because NHRA can/will not stop it.

Lost 20 years of respect in about 5 seconds, I would not do that for my own sons, much less a team member. its all about money, John should run for public office, he would be a shoe in! My two cents!

Yea, Steve you're correct on principal but here's the rub: They keep coming through the gates, anyway. And did anyone notice the fans three deep at Force's trailer after that race?
