Anyone running a Performer RPM 383 intake, on a 69 Road Runner with stock hood? Im trying to find info on hood clearance, and what type of air cleaner your running? Im hoping to keep my stock air cleaner, but may have to use a drop down base....

69 Road Runner, numbers matching 383, Auto.

Get a 440 airgrabber air cleaner, they have a drop base and will give you a bit more clearance. I believe the repro ones are availible from EB&A and priced right.

Is your car air grabber equipped ? If not there is a ford motorsport open element air cleaner that uses the same diameter element as the stock unsilenced air cleaner , it is made for a holley though so if you are running a carter you'll need to modify the fuel line .

As far as uing the 440 air grabber unit , the 440 unit is only 3/4 inch , I think maybe less, shorter than the 383 unit , the RPM I'm sure is TALLER than what the air cleaner is shorter by so even that one I doubt would work .

That's interesting , I wouldn't have expected that especially after reading the link above .

On My 68 charger, I run a performer rpm. a stock 68 unsilenced air cleaner won't fit at all. I used the aforementioned ford motor sport drop base. it's one of the only ones that's the right diameter. works perfect.

maybe you have more clearance on the roadrunner? same chassis, but different hood?

Hey John do you have a part number or link to the motorsport open element air cleaner that you are mentioning?
