I think the Newfie who placed the 'Cuda up on barrels should be posthumously commended for his actions. Obviously, he did the best he could. (Factoid: Fishing boats in Newfoundland are often brought ashore during the off season...and put up on barrels). For if it were not for this act of preservation, the 'Cuda wouldn't have stood a chance at all, given the extremely corrosive environment it was in.
That being said, the 'Cuda should never have gone to Newfoundland in the first place! Heck, everything rots there!

You guys weren't in NFLD, you were in my neighborhood...
Acadians
Cajuns
...but close enough that you must have the NFLDer recognition gene, though...

The way those cars were built, it was hard to keep them together up here in the rusty northeast seashore areas. I remember seeing 5 year old cars from the era with quarter panels rusted through, fenders with holes in them, etc. Plus, back then not many people considered saving them for the future... so this guy should be commended just for keeping it away from the crusher.
All those solid southern cars now being hauled out of junk yards to be restored would just have been a pile of rust had they been left sitting up here... so just to have kept it in one piece all those years was an accomplishment... the guy certainly doesn't deserve to have his memory crapped on because the car deteriorated.

I agree, most cars are lucky to NOT have some kind of rust around here after 3-5 years and the manufacturers didnt care then and they still dont care. If that car hadnt been on barrels it probably would have been crusher bound like alot of others.
