I noticed last night that my shocks (cheap CE 3 way adjustibles) were set on 50/50 and I was bouncing them like basketballs.

So I adjusted them to a real firm setting. I belive it's 30/70. That calmed things down a bunch, but there is room to improve.

Who makes an even better shock that could be tuned even stiffer than the 30/70 rate for the rear. Not worried about the front shocks, I've got them set at 90/10. Just talking about the rear shocks here.

Not sure how much $$$ you want to spend, but there are many. I have the Rancho 9 way adjustables, which is what Calvert suggested I use with their set-up.

I think your going to find(at least in the world of shocks)that the more you spend, the better your results are going to be.

If i was looking at buying real good shocks(i currently run what you have) this would be my opinion...1 being better than what you have, and going up from there in quality

1. Ranchos
2. QA1'S
3 Strange
4. Afco's
5 Santuff's

Do they adjust farther than 30/70 ? Seems like I need an even slower shock than that.

Things are pretty violent with a Stick! The shock load is pretty severe.

No, they dont,(30/70 40/60 50/50...i actually have mine staggered in the back, after playing with them over a period of time. prior to doing so my driver side rear tire would actually get air when i launched the car

Have you switch the rear springs yet? If not maybe that is the next thing to do instead of doing the shocks first Why replace the rear shocks twice, if you find that the springs are needed also The rear springs should do most of the work and the rear shocks are for fine tuning, IMO

I would put Koni DAs just before the Santhuff's

Springs are Super Stocks (002 / 003). Front segment clamped all the way, rears have a few clamps. I could try clamping all the rear to keep separation down.

I could even add a leaf to both springs to make them stiffer.

THe first two runs, with the shocks set at 50/50 had me getting about 3" of air under BOTH rear tires at the same time. The car would hit the tires, they would flatten out some, and then bounce right back off the pavement. Just like a basketball.

Change the shocks to 30/70 and that really helped, along with lowering the air pressure some more.

I seem to be pretty close with the 30/70 setting and 17lbs in the tires. But I want to slow down the hit some more. I need more control back there.

You dont want the spring to hold you down, you want
the shock to control the rise... so dont add any
clamps to the rear segments... I have QA-1s singles
that have 12 adjustments... I like them for a fairly
inexpensive shock(mine are coil overs). To me I wouldnt
use the Rancho's because they need to be at or near
the max setting and that doesnt leave you much, if
any adjustment..... JMO

Mike,
Look at my other post here in this section.

Thanks for the input. What about adding a leaf to each spring and playing with that? Do you feel that would help at all?

Mine are usally on 7. The 9 setting gives you more than a CE shock on 70\30, My rear axle sepparation is almost zero with the shocks on 9.

If your shocks are in the factory position you can straighten then up some and that will make them stiffer

Ordered up a pair of Rancho's and I'm going to have my dad put them on his RR and test them at Norwalk. I'm sure he'll like them. Then I'll get a set.

Mancini is running a sale on Afco shocks.Last time I looked they had single and double adjustable units at very reasonable prices.
