You'll need solid mounts or an engine plate to keep engine movement
from locking the steering.

My SB pan is 11" deep...........they hang loooooow!

I have run one in a Duster, we made it out of steel (and welded onto a stock pan with the bottom cut off) with a long sump with the dual line external pick up mounted behind the steering linkage tube. We would put a stock oil pan on the motor to install it due to the long sump not clearing the stock K member until the motor was in the car We (several people owned and raced that car besides me )would install the motor, remove the drag link and then the oil pan, install the big oil pan, hook the oil system up and hook the steering back up, pain in the rear I have several aluminum oils pans with the tubes welded into them, one is on a motor that will go into my Duster soon This pan is a Charlies Oil Pan brand that I bought used and sent it back to him to make it fit my motor in my car, my motor is set back a little more than most A bodys with BB That is the reason the upper front corner is square instead of being round like the rest of the tube IHTHs

Thanks for the info. Mine is set back pretty far as well and also a little low. The Milodon pan w/ the hole it will not work w/ my motor plates the drag link still runs into the pan. Is there any pitman or idler arms that have a longer reach or lower than the stock ones (factory slant 6 car)??

Then I guess my worry would be the oil pan sits to low and may have contact w/ the ground when the front end comes back down, after the launch.

Milodon, rectangle hole. Center link center replaced with a straight section of solid steel, welded with consecutive penetrations, from deep to surface. I considered threading the cut off ends, and using a piece of moly, but ended up having it welded instead.

Best to mock one up with the motor & link in the car, and pay attention to the crossmembers. My SB Duster has a huge Billet Fab pan in it, and I can pull & reinstall it in minutes, including pulling the drag link. No big deal. I marked my balancer so I can have the crank throws in the right place to clear the front of my pan where it's also close to the K.

Fred, didn't you make or have a picture of a a-body bb pan with a drag link tube in it?

I had a Milodon pan on my small block Dart for a few years, because my car sits low we had to have the draglink tube moved lower in the pan it worked and looked good but was a hassle every time I took the motor out and I eventually went to a Moroso pan.
