Truck is loaded, car on the trailer and all hooked up. Leaving here about 6am tomorrow should put me at the track by 10am with plenty of time for tech and all before test and tune begins.

Any updates?
I can't report on the others, who I haven't made contact with, but the first two days went off without a hitch. Unfortunately, as predicted, the rain came overnight and it's supposed to be showery sat-monday. No more 90-degree weather, just trying to get runs in between the rain showers with temps in the 60's. Two nights in a row I've brought welding projects home with me. Thursday it was a header tube from Dick Clark's white '66 Charger and last night I spent 1-1/2 hours on a door hinge from Tony Schroeder's red '62 bubble-top Bel-Air. That hinge was a mess of cracks and poor attempts at repair with a mig welder. I had to grind out problem areas and refill with the mig welder until I had a part that looked like the original but with some areas made entirely out of welding wire. Some parts just shouldn't be lightened to save weight. Cory

Another update, if anyone is interested. The rain stopped at around noon today and never came back. The morning time trials were cancelled, except for the junior dragsters, and then it was right into the Race of Champions. I did see a couple of members going rounds in the RoC but I'll let them tell their own story. It was non-stop action all day, no oildowns, no breakdowns that I saw, it went really well. Here is some results info stolen from the Woodburn Dragstrip web site: "Final standings in the Team Manager's Challenge gives Portland-36 points, Spokane-30 points, and Woodburn with 29 points. Individual champions for this competition include: Super Pro - David Regnier; Pro - Dave Oien; Sportsman - Martin Jackman; Bike/Sled - Kevin Bromley; High School - Josh Wilson; Jr. Lightning - Taren Smith; and Jr. Thunder - Meghan Molinari. Congratulations to all. Racing continues tomorrow with Sportsman starting the competition at 8 am." I'm pretty sure the first four names above are going to the finals at Pomona with travel expenses covered. The track had rented lights and had them stored at the end of the track just in case we had to run late to get it done. I have never seen lights at Woodburn, never. WB has always been a daytime only track as far as I know. Since there was time left they decided to get a head start on sunday's regular team race and called Super Pro (my class) well before sundown. They set up the lights and they were needed pretty quickly. With the sun down the tree was very bright and the track was probably as sticky as ever, lots of red lights and breakouts. Unfortunately, the pits and return road have no lights at all, like most of the race cars, and they decided to call it quits after running Super Pro. I did get a first round win and as a team Portland was 8 for 12 so we're in good shape for making a run at the track championship tomorrow. The Super Pro team totally stunk it up in the Race of Champions today but the rest of the team did well enough to more than make up for it. Forecast for tomorrow: thunderstorms and windy. That's totally bizarre weather for these parts.
