Which ports on the 915/906 heads seem to generally flow more? Which ports usually flow less?
Thanks

It's been a looooong time but, I think the BB 915 and 906 have the same intake port. Only difference being 915 is closed chamber where 906 is open.
I believe they will end up flowing about the same as the later model heads but, with better flow in the .300"-.500" lift range.
The later heads (902,346 and up) are easier to port though.
I know they are the same intake port, hence the question.
What Im after is which ports generally flow better than the others, 1,2,3,4, etc.
Im asking because I have a set of 915s I need flowed and am comparing them to a set of BS heads that Dwayne did for me. I know what Dwaynes heads flowed on his bench, so Im gonna have both sets flowed to go idea of comparision of flow. My end goal is to see (based on a guess at this point) whether the 915s flow better or the 452s on my motor at the moment flow better. In a few weeks I'll pull the 452s off and flow them also, IF it looks like the 915's will be the winner. I know that Ive read that some ports (1,2,3,or 4) generally flow better than another port on the same casting, just trying to get an idea of what ports to have flowed, or the whole head.
I expect the low lift flows to be mediocore at best on the 452s as the runners have been hogged out, the 915s on the other hand look smoother and are more uniform, fwiw.

Well, since you havent got much response yet and i'm curious about this myself, figured i'd chime in. Being that i am no head porter, I've got no earthly idea, but i suspect #4 and 5 exhaust ports flow weird due to the exhaust crossover passage. Intake ports,no idea, but i bet there is 10+ cfm difference best to worse. I wonder if the typical single plane intake would affect the flow of the outer runners more than the inners, considering its angle of approach to the head and the location of the pushrod pinch in the head. Too bad Dwayne Porter isnt on here much anymore. He seems to be the 906 guru.

Why not just call Dwayne?
Good point, but Ive already bent his ear plenty, thought Id give him a rest on this one.

by the time you spend all that money getting them flowed, you'de be better off getting a set of after-market heads that flow way more than stock heads.
Id have to flow a sheetload of heads at 20 bucks a head to be in the same $$ range as a set of aftermarket heads.
By the way if you read my post I have a set of ported BS heads. Trying to get this motor in the 10s with stock castings.

How are you going to compare the heads unless you flow both heads on the same bench with the same fixtures? Are you also going to compare port velocity between the heads? Don't get me wrong, some information is better than none, but I'm not sure how accurate the comparison will be?
Yes, both heads will be flowed. Yes, port velocity will be compared.

What if that is NOT an option ?
