I'm going to be building my first big block. 440 it is going to be a street/strip setup on a budget. I'm looking at stroking it to a 500ci. all forged internals and will have a D1SC procharger on it. right now I'm looking for a set of heads. Ive found the 440 source stealth aluminum head. are these a good head for this build? is there a better iron head? even though i would have to drop the compression? i don't need/want the best out there just something to help me move a 94 club cab dakota to 11.0 or a little faster in the 1/4

thanks.
Dan.

any of the 440 source kits and or eagle at mancini's or other but aim as low as you can for compression to use the charger. an 500 inch kit with -24 cc dome for 9.1 to 1 with a 88 cc head and go with eddies 88 cc out of the box and with the pro charger and a cam designed foe that build it should really go!!!
PS I have a nice roller cam , springs and Titanium retainers that would work great on that build.
268/270 @ .050 114 lobe separation .636 lift
Or i think it would be good! LOL!

Built on a budget? That's a pretty nice budget to work with

How much boost do you plan to run? I do not know what material the valve seats are mode of, but you may want to order the heads bare and use exhaust valves that can handle the higher temps when under boost.

I don't know as it's a custom re grind of a crowler (NOS Cam) and using milidon gear drive when I had it in set up is way different. no marks to line up and see where it comes out you set the cam at .050 lift and the crank to the deg you want the .050 event at put the top gear on lining up the 7 concentric bolt holes then do your rechecks?? I installed it at 106 on a 10.5 to one indy head motor and thought it left soft with my tight 4000 stall so I but it up to 102 and gained 3 tenths.
I now have a 272/282 110 LSA . .660/.672 (.694/.717) with my 1.6 rockers.
I installed it at 99.75 and picked up about .050
over the 114 LSA cam but it sounds like it's pissed off at something!! LOL!! I just raised the compression to 11.5 so we will see.
If I get off the computer and get my leaky (gaskets I hope) oil pan back on!!
