What is the best pan gasket to use on a 727? I thought I heard some talk about a one piece steel reinforced that was less prone to leaking? What can that be bought? Thanks.

I've used this one:

http://www.moparts.org/Tech/Archive/auto/25.html

Works pretty good but the price has gone up...

yes a much better gasket

you can get them at the dealer for about 12-15 bones

do not over tighten them,they do not crush,it will strip bolts holes if over torqued.

the bolts are a tad short but work ok,if it strips the hole,usally a longer bolt will work in that hole.

the shorter bolt only goes 1/2 way in the hole...mark that one if it does for later referance.

the new gasket has a o-ring type seal to it,just make sure the pan rail is flat..

I allways tap the from the gasket side to make sure the are not dimpeled from the old style gaskets and over torqueing them

its reusable also,I have had mine of 5-6 times since I bout it a couple yrs ago,even swaped it to the replacement tranny in feb

$ well spent IMO
