I've seen the 360 externally ballanced flywheels with the 3 large holes bored into them for ballancing, but is this also a 360 flywheel? The guy says its an external balanced 10 1/2" 360 flywheel. Is this another type and can it be used on a 360-A833OD setup in a Duster? Or is this for something else? Thanks

I'm going to say it's not a 360 flywheel.

This is a Mopar Performance 360 flywheel for comparison:

It might be one that was done at a local shop to someones 360 assembly, its not going to look the same as the MP unit.

I'd have the balance checked before using.

Look at all the balance holes that have been drilled in that flywheel. Who knows what it would work with. Unless you want to go through the "mass and vector" approach, I would think the easiest way would be to have a balance shop check it.

Both replies above me pretty much spell it out , you can't know what it is and I would Not take someones word on it unless I DROVE the vehicle it came out of FIRST and even then .

The scallop cut in the OP is common on externally balanced factory flywheels.

It's possible the weight is removed from about the same area as the "MP" flywheel. You would really need to have it ballanced to your rotating assy thou. If you don't mind pulling it if you have a bad vibration you could put it in and try it. Not the best way but if your on a low budget hand consider labor as free its a option.

Your machine shop can spin it & determine how much unbalance it has (external balance) & IF that can be directly matched to the unbalance amt listed in the 360 MP flywheel conversion blueprint then you'll know if the seller was correct that it is balanced for a 360. But w MP poor balancing I would definitely have the whole shebang (re)balanced but at least you'd know if the seller was straight w you.

Ok, thanks for the feedback guys. I just picked up a used 360 short block with 500 miles and a dozen 1/4 mile passes. It has .030 over forged TRW dished (stock looking) piston and chrome rings, looks great, I can still see the cross hatch and theres no ridge, but he didnt have it ballanced. I think I'm going to tear it down and I'll get the whole assemble ballanced useing my 318 flywheel, that way theres no problems.
