Well - I guess I'm the odd ball here. I like old school paint and classic cars that are loud, flashy, and fast. Big tires, parachutes and getting down the track.
Et isn't all that important. If two cars with great paint schemes line up, do long smokey burnout through uncorked headers, leave the line side by side and wheels up, then run door handle to door handle all the way down the track - I doesn't matter if they ran a 9 or a 12 - that is exciting for the fans.
I'm not only a racer but a fan of the sport and nothing turns me off more than bland cars that look and sound like they belong in a shopping mall parking lot.
One of the things lost in this sport is the fan appeal - race cars are supposed to be loud - sounding and looking - that's what piques fans interest. Case in point - NHRA is going back to 90% nitro because when they went to 85% they lost the "cackle factor" that fans loved.
I also took a bunch of teens to the track once and afterwards asked them which cars were their favorites - without exception - they all picked cars that had names on them or wild graphics and were loud.

My favorite door car classes are the Pro Mods, then the 10.5 cars, then nostalgic super stocks.
I like cars that at least run 8s or low 9s.
I like the big tire look, but i respect cars that run on small tires.

CLEAN and SIMPLE. Well enough engineered to run low 9's or even the eights in street trim and be a TRUE street car. Full interior, power windows, mufflers.etc......and CLEAN. It has to be CLEAN in styling and execution of work performed.
Bondo Bobs Demon is a prime example of what catches my eye.
Karma has no menu. You get served what you deserve.

Most anything that runs hard for what it is. Throwing $$ at a racecar doesn't impress. Stock bodied early 60's to mid 70's bracket cars are cool. Early Pro Stock very cool. ALL 60's era Super Stock, AFX and Funny Car are cool. Gassers RULE!! Light/small cars with big tire that need them are cool. FAST and Pure Stock are cool too. A gutted 80's era bracket car that was built cheap and wins $$ is very cool too.

What impressed me is low buck, cars built at home by the owner running without a bottle that are quick for ht emoney invested, consistant, and relativly bullet proof. Cars that you aren't afraid to let the wife know how much money is spent on it. Bottle babies impress me the least. Anybody can by a fast car, pro built engine, and a and/or a bottle.
Clean it, if it's Dirty. Oil it, if it Squeaks.
But: Don't fix it, if it Works!

If you said I could have any car on here to race it would be ron silvas old car, can't wait to see whats next!
G machines dart isn't really a drag car or it would be my first pic, but it does run 12s with 2.something gears!
After those 2 cars I love the F.A.S.T. cars. Unique, fast, and don't look fast. Stickers and ginormous tires are ugly.
Almost forgot, a car that is driven to the track, raced, and driven home is awesome! Who wants a car you cant drive home and tantalize a corvette on the way home.
