The 1/4" rig pin only goes through the first two levers on the Mopar Hurst shifter, the Reverdse lever has no hole. The recommended tool aligns the sides of the Reverse lever. Without that tool the Reverse lever alignment has to be by eyeball.

thank you i don't have the fancy tool so i'll try with the 1/4" drill bit, what i have now is 1 and 2 easy,3/4 and reverse is real tight or hard,i'm hoping this fixes my problem
Look, man, don't make this more difficult than it is. ALL you are doing is lining up the gate where neutral happens. If it catches a little going into the reverse gate, or won't shift smoothly from 2-3, "play" with the shifter a little gently and you CAN TELL BY THE FEEL of the shifter if the neutral gate is "off" and simply adjust one or t'other rods a turn or two.
Also, BE SURE that the rectangular holes in the arms are tight on the shafts. On my old '70, I bought an aftermarket comp plus, and the Da$$med arms were actually loose on the shafts. I was forever cutting little chunks 'ol feeler gauges off using them for shims.
