The drivers floor was patched in the early 90's before I got the car. The patch was never painted and was already rusted with lots of pinholes when I got the car. I've replaced the floor now, but am missing the spotwelded on bracket/tab that goes on the bottom of the floor to hold the speedometer cable.

1. Is there anywhere I can get this tab, or do I need to make one?

2. What are the measurements for the tabs location?

As often as people replace floors, hopefully the answer is readily available. (I could also use measurements for where to locate the dimmer switch.)

You can see it in this picture too. (ignore the red marks around the torque boxes)

Many thanks for the help.

Here's a link to it that will make it easier for everyone to see.

I agree, it doesn't look quite right. I don't know of anywhere such a clip would attach to the frame. The only one I know of is welded to the bottom of the floor and pictured above. (I ran without one on another car several years back and melted my speedo cable on the headers.) Maybe that clip in the auction is for a different car?

I still appreciate the help though!

Someone should tell AMD they need to include these on their floor pans.

FWIW I've cut a few of those clips off junk yard cars, when stripped they are copper clad probably to prevent corrosion... As far as location I'd say your pictures pin that down pretty well...

BTW Nice job of trying to track down allot of details that are typically ignored...

The knowledge is out there it's a matter getting it all rounded up & saved...

Thanks. I'm saving all the info so I can pass it on to the next guy that needs help.

Is this an E body only thing, or did all the 70 mopars have this? Maybe I could find one at a junkyard.

Copper clad huh? I bet that makes it tough to weld onto the car. Maybe I should just fabricate one.

71-74 b-body for sure, I think the later stuff has it to... When you hit it with the wire feed the copper just burns off no problem...

That clip in the ebay link, is the one on the front frame rail. The first clip the cable passes through after it comes out of the firewall.

Thanks, neither of my cars have one, so I hadn't noticed. Does it attach with a screw or bolt or something? Anyone have a picture?

This clip just snaps over the edge of the frame rail right at the base of the firewall . approx 6 to 8" rearward of the prop valve.

Hi Bill

Do you happen to sell those? What's the item #? I'll add it to my shopping list. I'm about done figuring what I need and should place an order soon.

Well, in case anyone else is looking for the info, here's what I managed to gather. The measurements were taken off a 70 'cuda. I'm not sure how much placement varied from the factory.

This pic is not that car, it is another 70 car that has had its floors replaced with later style aftermarket floor pans, but the pic works well for displaying the measurements.

Oh, by the way, I also found that the dimmer switch is located 2 3/4 out from where the floor pan meets the kick panel. I don't have a measurement down from the seam where the floor meets the firewall yet, but I'm pretty sure the holes are located vertically so that the wiring approaches the switch from the left.

I know 70 Chargers had them. You either cut one off an old floor pan or have a new one fabricated.
