A buddy of mine came over in his 70 Cuda. 383.
Trans is a 727.
When car is put into gear it goes in hard with a mild bang.
Car run in 1st gear good but does not want to shift into 2nd unless you get on it then release the gas. Same with 3rd.
Is this an adjustment problem or is the trans on its way out.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Check to see the linkage is pulled forward with a spring on the Throttle shaft of the carb.
