aftermarket tacs.

OK, I cant say it enough, I hate the ralley dashes. And I refuse to pay the high dollar $$$ to have them rebuilt. Mine has demons and I am DONE with it. Plus I want a more modern look.

So what I am planning on doing since I cant find a decent bezel that will house 2 five inch gauges, a tach and a speedo and the other four smaller gauges, WATER-OIL-VOLTS-FUEL. IS I am going with a non rally right side cluster and placing the speedo and four small gauges inside that.

Now I have a tach left and am trying to deide where to mount it???

I dont like the steering column look and I did that on my 67 Dart. This TAC has a shift light as well.

Where did you mount your tacs---Any pics are appreciated.

I wish they made a dash cap like some of the B bodies that house some gauges in the dash.

I am thinking of cutting the center console( I have a spare) and fabricatng it into the front of that and molding it up, so its contoured!!!!

The interior of the Cuda vert is red and black and the console was shot with SEM, so I can adapt it. I thought I could mount the TAC down inside the frotn of the console, but cutting it a bit and ever so slightlu counter sink the TAC into it and them relocate shoft light to match, close to it, so there are two raised areas???

Can I see your ideas??? Any suggestions on what you think would look good.

And this is a 70 Barracuda Grand Coupe that I started 14 years ago. Its non original and Viper red with the radio antenna mounted in the back rear quarter because the quarter came off of a destroyed AAR(PINK AAR) so I am not concerned with any particular look or making it original.

Thanks Dave

hi
On my Demon, I used the lower screw that holds in the A-pillar trim to mount my tach mount. Then, I turned the tach about 45 degrees counter-clockwise and it sits nice and out of the way. I couldn't fit one in my dashb panel:

This is what I am talking about. I used an old e body console that I cut and can shape to fit.

The cut away the top lid and fit the TAC into it. I want/ need some sort of plastic pipe or tube that has a 3 1/4 inside diameter for the TAC to slid into. The plastic I can form and plastic weld into the console.

any ideas?

I also need to mount the shift light. I have a huge one and a small one. Since I am thinking of using the standard bezel with the tach, I wont need the SMALL OIL light. I can use this small shift light/ see pic and slightly drill out the high beam light hole and install this shift light and use new decals to move the oil and brake over to the other holes on the right side, thus allowing me to use the small LED in the standard dash???

Here's the bracket I made for my wifes charger. If you plan on racing it I would recomend installing high enough so you can see it easier.

It's just a piece of aluminum that I bent to shape and painted.

Hi "Lawfish",

Ran across these dash panels from Carolina Customs. I now the speedo size is smaller than you wanted, but thought you might like to see them. They have 5 & ^ hole gauge panels, Maybe they look too "streetroddy" for a muscle car ? The speedo & tach hole size is 3 1/8" & the four other gauge openings are for 2 1/8". That company is ceasing prodction of these panels soon.

Link: http://www.carolinacustom.com/pages/prod...panels_page.jsp

The 6 hole panel is 17 3/4" X 4" in size & the 5 gauge panels are: 14" X 4"

John
