there should be metal tabs along the cowl/pinchwell that the rubber sets on.

There are instructions in the factory service manual. I believe you are to seal the back of the bottom to the cowl. I think it shows you where to apply the sealer to the cowl in the manual.

5/16 inch butyl tape on the backglass.. Warm up in the micro wave for about a minute and install it in some warmer weather...

Run a ribbon of sealer along the bottom and up the side about an inch.. The drain vents in the bottom are supposed to help keep the WS gasket in place.. The sealer is what will prevent air and water leaks.. Apply a back and forth ribbon ( like a Z) across the bottom, then set in the gasket, work the WS into the gasket...

Re: windshield install. As the other reply said, there are three tabs on the bottom on the cowl there is a groove in the rubber gasket that sets on these tabs holding the gasket in place on the botton only. If you don't set the gasket on the tabs the lower section won't seal properly. I'am very familar with this.I just had my windshield in and out several times three days ago.(long story) So If your not sure how to install contact me. I'll be glad to assist.

If you haven't installed a windshield of this type before, I would suggest you find and ol timer glass guy to help you...

Just did mine today. First you need to find a non hardening, nonsetting sealer then place the gasket all around the pinch weld top and sides. Set the bottom of the gasket on the dash out of the way and run a bead of sealer along the bottom just below the dash and about 2 inches up the sides. Now set the bottom of the gasket down and hook the three tabs into the channel of the rubber. Now it gets hard, set the bottom of the glass as deep into the bottom as possible, you will need a couple of stiff plastic sticks to work the gasket around the glass and dont be afraid to pound the glass to help set it. Work your way around to the top until the whole glass is in the channel. If your still willing to go on, you now have to overlap the locking groove which is just as hard as setting the glass. I helped an old timer do it and we decided to do the trim tomorrow
