Isn't there some NHRA rule that states brake line has to be re-routed
from firewall/bell housing area?

Maybe it's not ET specific.

I'm trying to plumb the whole car for brakes today and would like
to see/hear your alternate routing for passenger front brake.

Thanks in advance.

Or if its within the trans/bell housing area it has
to be enclosed in a thick wall tubing

I ran mine up front across the front subframe tube. Route it so it is opposite from any rotating parts on front of motor.

I race at IHRA tracks and am an IHRA member, so these rule excerpts are from the IHRA book, but the NHRA ones are pretty much the same. Get the book and check all sections.

BRAKE LINES: Brake lines must be routed outside the frame rail or enclosed in 1/8 inch steel tubing in flywheel area.

BRAKES: All brake lines mounted on the firewall, where they pass flywheel bellhousing on stick cars, must be protected.

BRAKE LINES: Brake lines must be routed outside the frame or enclosed in a 16” length of 1/8 inch (minimum) walled steel tubing, securely mounted, where it passes the flywheel bell housing area

This comes up pretty often, and I have yet to see anyone post pics. I need to plumb my Barracuda with stock firewall. I was thinking about going up in front or through the K-Member with mine. My tunnel is modified, but firewall is stock.

How do they do it with the SS cars? I am just under 500" with a Jerico. I don't want to just to pass tech. I want to do it the right way and the safest way.

Pics would be appreciated!

My R/F line runs across the front of my K member. Lines run straight through the lt apron as they exit the MC, with the line-loc on the L/F rail in the wheelhouse. Lines run between the rails & the control-arm bumper bracket.

Thanks for all the replies. My brother helped me with the car today.
We didn't get as much done as I'd like but, it's that much less I'll
have left to do later.

We ended up routing the RF line forward and under the steering gear.
It turned out OK but, wouldn't want to do this for a living.
