Raised port aluminum wedge head. Basically a Mopar version of the Victor head.
the Victor head was basically the Edelbrock version of a stage VI head

OK, I'm confused. The regular (non-victor) Edelbrock and the regular Stage VI use non-offset rockers, while the Victor is similar to a 440-1. Right? It sounds like this new VII is a step up to the Victor/-1 level. If that's all it is, BFD. If Mopar did something to raise the bar, (longer valves comes to mind...) great. Any details as of yet?

P5153654 I believe that the Mopar version of the Vics was released about the same time as Edelbrocks... in 2007. I don't know that there are ANY significant differences between the two.

Moe this stuff is too low tech for you to worry about..lol..But your right the most basic Stage 6 uses straight rockers but the Max Wedge versions got the offset rockers. So in that sense, the Victor copy Stage 7 is not like the Stage 6 since there are not two versions of rocker gear. But I also agree, that the Victor is not that big of a deal or superior to the Stage 6...specially if you were to consider the Chapman Stage 6s. I was hoping Edlebrock would make the Victor more like a B1(at least)with longer valves, etc. Actually, I was hopin for something more like the Brewer head..a real contender in the wedge wars.

Was the Vic/Stage VII head designed by Edelbrock... or by Mopar?
Edlebrock. It may have a mopar part number and logo but thats the only difference...same casting.

Good to see there are a few who understand where the Stage VII marketing name came from, because the name makes alot of sense to me.
I haven't worked with one personally yet but have been told there are a couple changes that have been done to it to make it more user friendly. Was told in a vague kind of way the machining for distributor clearance and pushrod clearance is set up differently.
Zippy, I realize it has to be user freindly, my remarks were more esoteric..wishful thinking, if you will. So, in that way, the Stg 7 is an "improvemnt" over both the 6 and the Victor..if it does indeed have the refinements you mention.

n/p bud, it's all good. Nothing harsh about your comments, not at all. I really need to look at/take pictures of a Stage VII and a Victor right next to each other to verify that stuff. I was told that info by a marketing guy (not an engineer) so it'd be best to see the stuff first hand to make sure I understood all that correctly. ' At any rate here is a shot of a 528 Wedge with Stage VII's and Andy F's favorite 337 intake....looking for all the world like an MP crate engine but it isn't....not yet, anyway
