I have a 70 R/T with 609 build date on fender tag is that june 9th 1970?

Yes, but it is the Scheduled Production Date. (SPD)

It probably was built within three weeks of (either before or after) that date.

The SPD is the date they hoped to build the car when the order first entered the system.

So maybe one of the last ones for the model yr? Its VIN has 239000 as the last digits, does that mean later production also?

The 1970 model year ended at 731 (July 31st, 1970)

What make & model is your R/T? not all plants have (had) SPDs that ran until the full end of the model year.

St. Louis assembled cars until 7/10/70 ..... about 20,000 after your R/T.
