I have some wedges to use in between the bottom of the leaf spring and top on the mounting plate. Which way should the thinker part of the wedge face to give me more of a negative angle? Thanks.

define negative angle in relation to the pinion shaft looking forward to the transmission

Pivot the pinion downward for more negative angle. In other words, the thick part of the wedge should face the rear.

well, my pinion angle was -3 (front tilted down I believe is - pinion angle) so I want to get it down to -5. So I bought some 2 degree wedges and installed them.
The thicker part of the wedge is towards the back of the car and the thinner facing towards the front. Now I have -1 to -1 1/2 pinion angle.. at least according to my made in china magnetic angle finder.

oh, but wait, when I measured and got the -3 I had the engine and trans in. Now the engine and trans are out.. would this effect it?

Pinion angle is the relationship between the pinion centerline and the transmission centerline, not the ground.

Set the pinion parallel to the transmission as a base-line, then pivot the pinion downward 5 degrees.

When the engine and trans were in I was +2 with the trans and -3 at the pinion. I use caltracs and they say be -3 overall. So I bought the -2 degree wedges hoping I can get to -3 overall. Sorry I did not explain that.

In that case, you need to roll the pinion downward 2 degrees.
