I just did a rebuild on my 340 motor and am trying to decide if should replace torque converter before we put everything together. If I do would you guys recommend a stall speed converter. My motor has a com cam(XE268H) .477 lift/268duration cam. It will be used as a street car/daily driver. I have been told you need to run a tranny cooler if you install a stall speed. I figure I just need around a 2,000rpm stall speed if I went this way. Or should I just stick with a stock converter? Who would you recomend for a stall speed or stock converter? Thanks guys,

I have a 2200 to 2400 stall no cooler. if you go higher you my need one. it's a different feeling, i have been a stick guy so it feels like your slipping the clutch.

An external cooler is always a good idea with any higher than stock stall converetor. Anything around 2500rpm will be fine for the street. You could go as high as 2900 rpm without a problem in a stock application. Obvioulsy mileage will suffer a bit, but usually not a primary concern if you want a little more zip.
