They put the additive in the oil of a Viper ...drove it for awhile .. then drained ALL the oil out of it and then drove it for an hour with no ill-effects .... Snake oil ? .. Water hose and all. I must have been doing something wrong cuz none of the engines continued to run. I know this stuff works, I saw ot on TV

burdar Owen's Dad Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 7,371 Iowa	I heard that Prolong uses a high percentage of clorine. Oil companies have stopped using clorine because it eats up the bearings over time. I think the figure I heard was that Prolong used at least a 10% clorine solution and other oil companies wouldn't even use a 2% solution. I heard that a good 10 years ago now. Don't know how much of it is true but it stopped me from ever trying the stuff.

It is all about payola Consumer Reports did a thing on Prolong a decade ago. Using two sedan 350's they drained the oil and with only Prolong ran the motors. They kacked it within 3 minutes and within seconds of each other. Mind you that could be the Chevy factor.
