I have an NOS R block, 59 degree, 9.56 deck. I will probably use a K1 3.79 crank, Compstar rods and custom pistons. I have a set of Stage 4 W2's done by Shady Dell. My goal is a 9.90 good air, 10.10 bad air combo. This is a foorbrake bracket car.
Car is a 66 Dart, low gear CRT 904, Dana 60 (4.56), ladders & coilovers, 29.5x15 slick, 3000lbs. w/driver.
I want to go solid to avoid the issues and expense of fitting roller lifters into this meaty block and not having to pull the heads to inspect the lifter after x amout of runs.. Would like to use something from Racer Brown and SM composite lifters.
Ok guys, give me some opinions.......

I'm running the STX-22 in my 416. Ryan ported my W-2's as well. 11.2 CR, TTI 1 7/8", 4.56 Dana, 10.5x28 MT'S, TA 4400 converter, 950HP PF. Have used both E-brock Victor W2 and Indy Intakes. Both produced the same #'s in the old car. I have just reinstalled the Victor in the new car but haven't gotten to the track yet. This combo in the new car ran 10.59 @ 125.94. The cam actually measured 575 lift and 272* duration CL measured 105.5. It is installed at 108. This motor is still making power a 7000/7200. I would think in that 3.79 strike motor 7600/7800 would be NP. The cam card says to limit RPM's to 8200. I do run 1.6 rockers. Jim

There is another guy in Mo. making big power with that cam, bet you know him. I know this is not the normal route most would advise but I do think it is doable. Just trying to see what's others have done.

I don't know. Very few run RB cams. I've always had really good results with them. JMO Jim

I use Comp's EDM lifters, they work. I like to use some of the .875 lobes for the mopars. But the MM's do make power.
Without knowing exactly what your engine combo is (compression, rpm range, carb, headers, intake, etc...) it's kinda hard to nail a cam down.

I would want to keep the compression to a max of 13 to 1 because of issues I had with head gaskets in the past. I use a Pro Systems 750 right now but also have a really worked 750 Dominator that I will eventually use. I have a stock Indy intake and also have Vic's W2 intake that he used in the Enginemasters deal last year which I got because it's been modifed to accept the Dominator. Hedders are Hedman 1 3/4 fenderwells, 3 inch collector. PTC converter around 5000 stall. Not too worried abour rpm now that I have something a little better than a stock block. I want a VERY reliable 10 second bracket deal.

Don't blame that on me. Brett did that.

My roller lifters drop right in, no clearancing required so don't let that bother you.
Expense yeah, but a roller will get you there so much easier...Comp 943 springs, good rockers and your done.
But if you want a FT cam, I would use something like: @.050 272/278 on a 106lca.

My bad, your right I did get that intake from Brett. I have it on now and I didn't see any difference from my stock INDY. No better or worse which tells me its a decent piece. I just picked up a 2 inch Dominator Super Sucker and when my hedders come in I'm goind to play with the Dominator again.
Brain have you tried those lifters in an R block? Also are they rebuildable?

You won't be rebuilding them anytime soon...LOL! But yes they are.
I've used these in R1's R3's, 340's, 360's and no problems so far. If you have a block with the extra head bolt bosses cast in, then you will have to remove the bosses...but no other machining is required.
I'm running this exact lifter in my 48° R1 block which I hope will be done by the end of the year. Only difference is with the 48° block I changed the link bars, but the rest of the lifter is the same.

Thanks Brian. This is an R block, no extra bosses. It sounds like the only issue I may have is oiling which I won't really know until I have the cam and lifters in the block IF I go roller.

You won't have any oiling issues. If I order the cam, I reduce the base circle to drop the lifter down, and help keep the oil galley covered at max lift. I've run .470 lobes this way and no issues!

Go roller all the way, I wouldn't run anything else with any kind of spring pressure
