In the $30,000 final at the W.F.C. race at Bristol this year, both cars were equipped with the M.T. slicks.Maybe that will answer your question.

I always coat inside the sidewalls of my slicks with Dawn dish washing soap about 24 hours, before I have them mounted.I never use the tubes, and have very little air leakage.

slicks that are used ,even with very little wear can be "dead" if they are older and/or havent been stored properly. i found that out the hard way..

I run M/T 8.5 x 26 slicks on my Dart and it runs 11.80's in the 1/4 with no traction bars .My 60 fts are 1.65 - 1.70.I dont have tubes in them either ,but i have to air them up every few weeks .I have a freind here in town that runs 6.59 at 110 mph ,with a 1.39 60 ft in the 1/8 on the same 8.5 M/T's as mine ,but he has caltracks .BTW his car has a tiny 342 Blue Oval in it naturally aspirated with full interior .My opinon is ,yes they are good slicks...

Mickey Thompson tires are the best in my book. They have been with me for over 10 years as a sponser on my race car. I see time and time again their tires in the winner circle. Ask Dan Fletcher.
If it helps, I run tubes in my bias slicks and use rim screws. But, with the radial slicks I run them tubeless with no screws.
They are a great company with a great product and are a very good value.

Just my .02,

I can get 200 runs on a pr of 29.5x9 on a car that will go 1.50 60 @ 3500#. They still work when I change them. Alot of ppl use up the tires in the water not on the track.

On used slicks it really depends on the car they can off from. If it's a fast car that hit's the tire hard, the sidewalls will be gone long before the wear holes are gone. I had good luck with M/T slicks and M/T ET Streets. I run the ET streets on my car, they seem to have a little stiffer sidewall then the drag only slicks.

You said your Dart runs high 12's. What MPH is that, and what is the 60'? If your high 12 second car is really a high 10 second car with slicks, there could possibly be an issue if the tires are "dead". M/T have been on our car since we started racing it. It's gone a best of 10.82 @ 125MPH. It weighs 3600# with me in it. It has a 4.56 gear and a 4200 RPM stall. We run stock, clamped, leaf springs. I have never had an issue with tire spin. Our best 60-foot is 1.49. We run 29.5x9x15's. I think you'd be very happy with the tires.

I've always had good luck with them, and run them now. Currently running 11.80's, 1.60 60ft. I would give 'em a try! I do run tubes in mine, never tried them without.

I sell my "dead" 33x10.5W's with 10-12 passes on them to a guy who runs low nines in a 1970 Corvette. He takes about 3 sets per year off of my hands and just loves them-especially for what I sell them for. We have now swithced over to 16's and they are harder to sell because of the odd rim size.

M/T Hoosier Good/Year and Phionex are all good slicks becareful buying used. Slicks have a short life the compounds can go long before they apear worn out on high power fast cars a slick might only be good for 20 to 50 passes slower cars that dont work the tire hard might last 200+ passes and more than one season

How could you tell if the sidewall is done? I'm looking at some used ones soon.
