Did a little bit more today before work, maybe some after then...I got the last patch ground down and then i straitened out the flange that goes onto the tailpanel. It got bent and warped pretty good. The end is still warped but the clamps and welds will help aid it into place...

The patch i had greg do the other day just wasnt cutting it so i cut it out and wend ahead with repair it...

Alright guys got some more done today...

First i would like to introduce you to our new team member, hes good at keeping us warm!

Ground down the back of the quarter and primed it up...

Found some more rust! So tough to replace rust at that

Then mocked up the passenger Extension by itself and did the same on the drivers side of the car. Everything fits really nice and tight

It is nice seeing a back end in even if it is only clamped

Are the '66-'70 heater boxes the same as a '71? I have one for a '67, but I doubt theyre the same.

If chicks today are anything like chicks when I graduated, and you honestly plan on taking that thing to prom, you better seriously consider putting AC in that bad boy. I only graduated in 2002, and no girl would go to prom in my Dart with no AC...got that thing fixed in a damn hurry.

I've got to step away from the computer for a minute guys. Gonna go out and kiss the Quikfish for being so very, very low on rust. Wow. You're doing a great job there. If this thread has convinced me of anything, it's that I am fixing mine myself and doing it cheaply.

I’m listening.

Have you seen where they live? It's not like there is alot to do and I'm sure they would rather cut metal than be bored all winter.

GTX MATT Thanks for the offer but from what i have seen they are different.

Ross Pulliam I guess ive been lucky, the girl i took to homecoming requested we take my car knowing it had no A/C plus it was something like 85 degrees out...

Thanks Quikfish and SteveS that means a lot to us that we are inspiring and impressing others!

Does anyone have any feedback on the heater issue/poll above? I would like to know why you voted what you did!

Thanks,

Steve

I voted for "Find a Heater box and restore it" because A/C adds weight and draws on the motor which takes away from performance and thus the fun too. Then again I'm a windows down type of guy. But IMO you don't want to run without a heater. You may want to cruise it on a cooler night and a heater doesn't add too much weight.

Theremight come a day when the weather is clear and dry but cold. Youl'd be kicking yourself as you hear other driving their muscle and you wont want to face the cold without heat. It'll extend your pleasure season and be that much more comfortable all around.

Mine is a track only car with no heater. Even with a multi layer fire suit it can get cold in there. I hate the cold

I voted to weld the holes closed. I figure that once you finish the car you won't drive it in the snow anyways. Also you are doing so well on a low budget and this would be your cheapest solution.

I voted to put a heater box in there because it will fit the firewall and simplify things. You could always go with a Classic Auto Air system later if you wanted to. Those kits are made for cars that do not have factory AC.

Driving on a clear, crisp Fall day and driving in the snow are 2 seperate matters but both require heat.

Install the heater.

I agree with the put a heater in it posters. Cool nights, and hot summer days if the car is running a little hot you can put the heat on to cool the motor a bit.
Keep up the good work.

Another idea, with budget in mind, would be to make a sheet metal cover..paint it body color..install it from the inside. Then you could add a heater whenever it fits your budget.

My girls issue wasn't with the heat, it was with blowing her 100 dollar hair do around and messing it up before she got to show it off!

Keep the girl you got (at least through prom if nothing else )

Thanks to you guys, and AMD,you've inspired me to take on a project car,I'd parted out,and left for dead! I have a 69 Charger R/T SE,electric sunroof car, that needs about as much metal work,as your Bee. The worst part of this project,is that I sold a lot of the pieces that went to this car,and now I got to go out and find them, and buy them again! Your kickin azz on your project! I'm gonna call my project geezer guns! Cause I'm a couple years older than you guys!

Thanks guys for the input. I think we will just put a heater box in just in case. I can get one pretty cheap im sure.

chargervert Thats awesome! I would save that car too! I'll look for any threads you post! I think its too cool that people can be inspired by this!
