Shifter cable length #433666

I'm replacing the shifter cable in BB Duster with 727. The existing cable is a 5' but it seems short, as it makes a near 90* turn into the tranny bracket. The headers are off right now so I'm not sure if a 6' would fit in there. What length do you BB Duster guys use?

Are you using front exit or rear exit? In a rear exit PPP, BB, Demon with a 727 - I'm using the 5'.

front exit.. but I had to move the seat back so I also moved the shifter and raised it off the floor. So that may be where I needed the longer cable. The seat now sits in the foot area for the rear seat..

I am running a Tubro Action Cheatah Shifter, I was able to use the cable supplied with the shifter. I believe it is 5' long.



That is my '74 Duster with a 440/727 and schumacher headers.

Exits at front on passenger side of tunnel. What's PPP by the way?

Here's a pic of the cable on the bracket. Looks too tight for my liking.

IF I am not mistaken Turbo Action makes a shifter specifically for the reverse manual valve bodies. As far as I know it is the same shifter frame and cable as mine. So it SHOULD work out but... every car is different.
