YbNoRmAL OP mopar addict Joined: Sep 2005 Posts: 589 Indiana	I have a 05 Dakota I bought used back in April. About once or twice a week the gascap and sometimes the check engine light comes on. Yes it has a gascap and I did put a new gascap on it. What other things can cause it to come on?

demonH1B enthusiast D Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 387 n/w, PA	I have an 08 Ram Quad that did that. It had a plastic fitting broken on the charcoal canister (which on my truck is under the vehicle next to the gas tank).

T Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 21,080 Niles , Ohio	The light comes on because it sets an emissions code.I saw a bunch where people fued them with the car running.Some will set a leak code for emmision some wont.We recommend a new cap if it occured more than once.Check all the lines from front to rear for a break.If none shows and no other codes it needs a smoke test to find the leak.It wont make a difference in how it runs.Rocky Chrysler Firepower
