I have a 05 Dakota I bought used back in April. About once or twice a week the gascap and sometimes the check engine light comes on. Yes it has a gascap and I did put a new gascap on it. What other things can cause it to come on?

I have an 08 Ram Quad that did that.
It had a plastic fitting broken on the
charcoal canister (which on my truck
is under the vehicle next to the
gas tank).

The light comes on because it sets an emissions code.I saw a bunch where people fued them with the car running. Some will set a leak code for emmision some wont.We recommend a new cap if it occured more than once.Check all the lines from front to rear for a break. If none shows and no other codes it needs a smoke test to find the leak.It wont make a difference in how it runs.Rocky
