no its not overfilled i an about 1/2 pint short because I thought the same thing. I just hate pulling it all apart for this. this is the only leak on the car and I am afraid to take it to the strip and drop anything on the track.

Thank you

It won't get better, only worse with time.

Common causes:
1) seal to converter snout not lubricated during install
2) bad bushing in trans pump (converter rides in it, yours should be new)
3) Damaged seal during converter install (caught lip, spring popped out, etc)
4) flexplate issue
5) converter snout excessive run-out (bent, etc)

Converter is new
What would be wrong with flex plate??
The spring could have come off thats true.
I put lube on the shaft of the converter as i always do also on the pilot to the crank.

This is all good stuff. Thanks

Thank you

I have just been through this had the trans out 4 times, replaced pump bushing and seal, replace bushing and seal again, replaced pump, installed tracer dye, pulled apart, and found it leaking from pump seal again , pressure test converter, found my leak! weld at snout to converter, so it always looked like front seal. Optimistic thinking would be if you filled your converter and some drained as you installed it in the transmission and dripped out as you ran it. Clean it with brake clean and blow it dry and see it leaks again.

Never actually seen a leaking hub but have heard of it several times ....

The plan ? .. is to pressure-check the converter you have. You can probably have a machine-shop do-it ... but if you have a full-coverage tight-fitting hub-cap(like the one I sell) .. you can use that with a simple tire valve.

I had a unknown brand "Hi Po" swap meet conveter that had the hub welded in about .003 out of center, it only leaked when it was running
