Is there something I don't know about flag etiquette? Why is this flag resting on the ground?
I was worried that they would drop it as they were unfolding it, now it seems they just decided to let it dust the floor.
Hopefully someone in the know will see to it that the flag gets retired correctly, and that the people resonsible for desecrating it are told exactly what they have just done.
They have now technically just ruined an irreplaceable piece of the time capsule contents, and Oklahoma history.

Personally, I'd like to see it restored and stay on display in Tulsa.
How about everyone else?
Who would POSSIBLY say "crush it, she's a goner".. on your poll..?
I was the First one to hit crush it when the poll was posted.at least I am honest with my opinion.
Well, all kidding aside, I am astounded. We live in COMPLETELY different worlds. I wouldn't think about crushing that car, even as a joke.
Astounded that I would part and crush a car? I have crushed better cars! The E body guys would string me up for what I have done ! And I am an E Body guy! Sometimes the parts are worth more than the car.Parts have to come from somewhere I sure know when I sold the parts everyone involved was happy and the much need the parts were used so another car could live.

So you wouldn't "CRUSH IT", you mean you would strip it of all good parts and then toss the unusable stuff? I've saved rare cars because of the CAR, I could have made personal gains before but instead gave a Hemi car away because of just what you say what you would do- I figured the car was more important than my wallet.
Got it for free, a REAL Hemi car minus drivetrain ONLY, then gave it away. For free. For the CAR's sake. I coulda sold all the parts off it easily.
Somebody else restored it, but it was a very solid car with everything but the Hemi/727 when I got it.

My time at the show was cut short by a dead camera and an 11 year old daughter I wore out.
As for the post about amazement for the air in the tires, they were, indeed flat at unearthing. They were aired for showing it and I think "Fix'A'Flat" introduced. That's what I overheard from some of the guys working with the car.
As far as the car's current condition...I don't think a "powerwashing" is a good idea. There are already bubbles forming in the metal, now that the air and UV have started to come into play [mostly the air, little UV, as it is inside, so far].
I think the car will very quickly rot away, as all the cars from that era did, just a bit slower. There will be the quandry. How to stop the decay...how to clean it up...should it be cleaned up. Those may never really be answerable until what occurs with the car actually happens...just like the unearthing.
Regardless, the car came up in pretty good condition, considering it had been bobbing up and down with the wet seasons Oklahoma has had for the past 50 years. What comes next will be determined when it actually happens.
The events of this weekend are going to be good, the stuff in the time capsule was way cool [though the flag sweeping the base of the stage was unconsiencable].

Why don't you read back through the 1000+ posts prior to the poll? There were plenty of guys saying it was beyond hope... so thats why I put it there. plain and simple.
Thought about having 2 polls... for those who wanted it restored. But knew it would just be 100% for "Don't let Boyd touch it!" so there was no point.
Personally, while I bust Alans balls over the Barrel Cuda (I say its now a rebody...just done the hard way) I still admire the mans desire to bring back the dead! So I would give him the 57 and say "Have at it."

I read through the entire thread as it progressed, and I have a "plain and simple" one for you.....
King Tut is dead. No hope for revival.
Should we cremate his remains?
Should we cremate his remains? Yes we should out of respect for him and the dead. When they put him to rest they put him to rest!

Wow.....are you really that far out of touch with reality? "dust the floor?" Touching the floor and desecration are quite a ways apart. Some people love to complain just because they can. I am betting that flag has received, and will continue to receive better care on average than the flags of the people whining about it "brushing" the ground. You guys really need to find something better to direct your "energies" towards.

Again what does that have to do with putting an option in a poll that reflected what some people obviously felt in prior posts. Not allowing for others opinions is a liberal trait I'm far from that. Besides I stated up front I would like to see it restored!

Hopefully no one with the "it's a worthless-heap-crush-it attitude" will win it. Its historical. Clean it up and display as is. But then for all you guys that think that it is worthless, there are people out there that think crushing YOUR car is a good idea!
