For the people that got up close, how did the body look? Is it restorable do you think? In this pic it really doesn't look so bad?

VERY descriptive use of "smilies".

Thank you, thank you very much.

Already had a conversation with a MOD about using my own personal descriptives of BC. Figured the safe thing was to use MOPARTS' own descriptives.

I GOT IT. Take up collections, restore this baby and re-bury it in a SEALED container like they did the prowler. Open it at the same time they open the prowler up. Dang, wish I could be there.

Just think, If every member here donated just $5 - or some usuable part. I wonder how close we could collectively get to having it restored. All for the New owner so he/her then could actully drive there new found piece of americana.

Leaving it as is , will cause a faster rate of decline - quickly

If it were mine, there'd be no discussion; she'd be restored. Heck, after seeing some cars that have been restored I would say ANYTHING could be.

Where do I send my money?

Since there are no fabric left, just dip it in a giant vat of PB Blaster and see what happens

My vote would be to clean and preserve. Our group wouldn't even be able to agree on the proper chassis black for restoration!
I hope that it is displayed where it can be seen.

Has anyone considered that the car is simply one big wet biohazard?

Powerwash it, clean it up and let it be. I don't see ANY possibility for restoration short of jacking up the air cleaner and driving another car underneath. Yes, not even the revered Keith Sims can fix that car.

Overall, I am sure the event was a positive for Tulsa. They certainly had to make the best of a worst case scenario with the car.

They could put it back in the ground with Boyd buckled in and bring it back up in another fifty make a great american hot rod episode. And put a case of just for men beard dye in the trunk for Boyd.

well all thing considered, that 57 is in incredable shape considering it spent most of it's 50 years underwater. i'm amazed it still has air in the tires! but after all the cars been through, it deserves nothing less then a full resto.

They should have had Dennis Gage come instead of Boyd. Not only would he have been much nicer, more knowledgable, and more respectful of the car and event, his mustache probably could have gotten the car running while he was talking.

On another note- I was talking to someone at the WPC museum a week ago about a friend who really wants the museum to buy his car (long story- I knew they'd have no interest), and the guy had mentioned on the sly that the museum is actually trying to buy "that buried '57 Plymouth" once they figure out who owns it.

My hope, personally, is that the WPC museum manages to buy it, because they'd at least restore it properly (I'd imagine) and put it on display, maybe even lend it back out to Tulsa for display.

Because of the Cosmoline?

Maybe most of the paint will be OK under that stuff, even? If it's still there, of course.

I don't see the point of restoring the car. It's been submerged, so unless it cleans up real perty like there is going to be ALOT of funk in hard to get to places.

I would hope it just gets as clean as it can be and then put on display as is.

I can understand wanting to restore the car, but would you guys weld, bondo and paint the Bonnie & Clyde car?
If it's restored, it's just another 57 Plymouth, not that there is anything wrong with a beautifully restored 57. It's just that it will lose the time capsule uniqueness.
