So, I was hanging out at a Mustang forum the other day, and was thinking about how cool it was that they could try eachother's tunes by sharing tune files. Since there are 80 skizillion Mustang combos, chances are great of finding someone with an almost perfect replica of what's under your own hood.
Obviously there are way less of us, and we can't install other people's tunes instantly. BUT, maybe if there was a database of combos (everything about your car) and razor sharp tunes(jetting/timing)....we might be able to get a better head start on hashing out our own tunes (as in, better carb jetting/timing curves/cam-converter-gear-weight setups).
What do you think?

I think that is a good idea .but there so many things you cold enter like deck hight , pistion to deck , cc of pistion dome , gasket thickness, cyl head cc, type of porting , cam , cam cl ,installed cl, duration, lift, valve lash, rocker ratio, intake , ported ,spacer, carb , carb cfm, jets front ,jets back, powervalve front back ore none ,scoop, ram air, sealed to carb, under hood air, distributor , timeing, advanced, initial, all in by , plug brand ,heat range gap , whell you get the idea so if you put down what things you are looking for I think the nice people here would share some of there combos with you I would

I like it. If the major categories (motor type, size, head casting) were fields, it could put put into Excel and sorted on your search parameters (rather than have to look down the list every time).

Thanks Ejit!
Like Jeff said, just basic combo stuff (the stuff you'd spout off to a guy who asked you about your combo at a show, for instance). Not really to replace time on a dyno or at the track, but just a comparison / suggestion.
I'll even compile the data and throw it into Excel, then make it available as I update it. Once in Excel, you'd be able to search combos similar to your own by engine displacement, cam size, etc, etc.
Sound good?
I think a good data set might look like this:
Type: B block
Displacement: 400"
Compression ratio: 8:1
Head type: "452" (or Indy, or Edelbrock, B1, whatever)
Flow #s (if any):
Cam type: (solid/hyd/flat/roller, PN if shelf)
Specs: 284/484 (add split pattern #s), adv. or @ 0.050
LSA: 114
Installed at:
Intake manifold: (Performer RPM, Indy, etc)
Exhaust: 1 3/4" primary (or manifolds, etc)
Carb type: (Holley, Demon, Carter)
Size: 750
Jetting: (all relevant springs/jets, etc)
Base timing: 10 degrees BTDC
Total timing: 35 degrees BTDC @ 2500 rpm
Power adder: (turbo/blower/nitrous)
Type: (garrett T4/Paxton/Annihilator, etc)
Blower impeller speed:
Nitrous jet combo:
Amount of positive manifold pressure/nitrous hit:
Intercooler: Y/N, eff. #s if any
Timing pulled if any:
Trans type (manual/auto)
Torque Converter size:
Stall behind your motor:
Gear ratios: (stock / custom)
Rearend ratio:
Tire size:
Vehicle weight:
Horsepower (if dyno'd, specify FWHP or WHP):
Torque (as above):
E.T. (specify 1/8th, 1/4):
MPH (as above):
Comments:
Anything I've left out? It seems like a lot, but thankfully there is 'cut and paste.' To keep it all searchable, it would be in cells you could search things by.
Anyone wanna go first? I just think it would be a good asset to the community....and maybe if your car is tuned as good as it's gonna get, some other member might see it and say "you may have too much cam, etc, etc."
P.S. if you have EFI, feel free to replace carb stats with tune files / settings, injector size, rail pressure, pump type/size, etc, etc.

MPH: 106.88
Comments: The truck pushes about 38 square feet of air and has 67% weight over front axle. Cam was installed straight up to kill the bottom end a little. I advanced the cam later to 104.5 and didn't see a change in performance. Also switched to a 850 holley and picked up 2mph. I tried a MP 590 mechanical degreed at 100, no change in performance over the 509. Tried a BG 1140 stageIII reaction time 3 circuit dominator, 60fts. stayed the same but ran 2 tenths slower. Was lean at WOT, not enough motor for it.

Jeff -
I'm doing the compiling......so far each member has an entire row for themselves, and the columns have the headings. It takes about 5 minutes per name to do. (Yes, I leave out all the stuff Excel wouldn't like, punctuation, etc, etc.) I am open to suggestions, though.
I figure this way, you can highlight a column and do a search within it. For instance, a guy can search for all people with demons, or all people with 360s, etc, etc.
Again, open to suggestions.........

what if your motor has been bored(.030,.060,.100) and if you run a exhaust(2",2 1/2",3"??..to the rear or bumper?) i like to know about exhaust cuz thats how i run my car...3" with welded summit race muffs to the rear. some cars run really well and then i find out it was with open headers and know there going 13's i know theres ALOT of stuff you guys can put on here and use...you DO NOT have to use anything i said ,i was just giving my 2 cents..thats all keep up the great job and i think its a GREAT idea!!!

This is a great idea, and we all appreciate you pitching in - I would have no idea how to compile this stuff! One should write a web application for people to input this stuff b4 it gets too hairy. Ask Aaron if he's tried to compile ColdFusion on his system after copying it off the disc.
A little web app would make this really quite easy.

ATTENTION!!! BEFORE you post to this topic, LOOK at Unlawfl and Bubba's posts above. POST IN THE SAME FORMAT! Copy one of their posts, and then change the specifics to what YOUR combo is. This will make it much simpler for the person handling all of the data.

Greg - Bless you, sir!!
Jeremy - I hadn't thought of having a user based entry system, since my internet capabilities are limited to making fun of people. If Aaron can get it going though, would you do the GUI and database and set it up on the dock or something?
Otherwise, data entry has been going well. Keep posting.....the more combos we have, the more insight we have!

The list and compilation is going ok - just have to say I am a huge sucker for the street freaks....I see some really rad combos for that!!
I will have a 'sample' excel spreadsheet up soon for people to thumb through. For people mildly familiar with excel, searching combos by columns for values that are like/same as theirs will be a breeze. However, I'd like to work with someone a little more web-savvy in making an easier-to-use online database format type thing. Anyone?

Comments: 240, 000 mile survivor, heads never off..actually ran 15.5 but was running so lean it starved at 3800 rpm at the 1/2 change up. It'd have to have 4/10ths in it. Also now using 1/2" phenolic spacer which has improved velocity...Engine is tired and the HP left on vacation years ago...hope to get into 14's by removing spare wheel and going on a diet!
