Daughter's 96 SOHC Neon, I think, needs a starter. Before I spend $100+ on it, and not need it, what else should I check prior to replacing it? It makes a strange sound, like maybe something internal. Went pretty quick actually.

It's probably the issue, it's got 170K on it, and never been replaced.

Doesn't "roll over" but makes a buzzing/sizzling sound?

Cables all appear to be clean and well connected. Which ones' the "exciter"? Also, battery's good.

Well, it was the starter. Not the easiest starter to change.
