I know there are some people out there that like to repair fan shrouds. I need to find someone who would like to repair mine for a reasonable cost. Any help is appreciated.

Got Mopar???

It has a section that was cracked and repaired with some flexible sealant or something and then a plate put across the area to stabilize it. Well, it isn't holding up to well anymore and the screws that hold the plate in don't look too good either. It's on the top right side.

You can buy a brand new one for pretty cheap...

1970 Plymouth 'Cuda #'s 440-6(block in storage)currently 493" 6 pack, Shaker, 5 speed Passon, 4.10's
1968 Plymouth Barracuda Convertible 408 Magnum EFI with 4 speed automatic overdrive, 3800 stall lock-up converter and 4.30's (closest thing to an automatic 5 speed going)

Actually, that's not quite correct - for instance, a 67 Barracuda 22 inch radiator fan shroud, Mopar Part Number 2785312, is not reproduced - falls under the "unobtanium" category - if you do find one, chances are it might need repairing...

Back to your original question - I know several people that have repaired their own fan shrouds, but don't know if they would be interested in "branching out" and doing additional repair work...

However, I did find someone on Craigs List (in the Chicago area) that is advertising fan shroud repair (and other plastic repair services) - here's the link:

Good Luck!

I would give it a shot at home with some fiberglass cloth and fiberglass resin. I fixed my cuda grill with that stuff, had a nasty crack up the middle of the center divider, and looks good as new now, and with the fiberglass cloth, it's stronger than it as before!

There was a thread in the restoration section about reparing grills and I think fan shrouds.

You need to open up the crack a little and bevel the edges. I think it said that you need to get another piece of ABS plastic and cut it into slivers. Place the slivers in a glass container of paint thinner. The thinner softens up the ABS slivers and you are left with a plastic mush that you can smear into the crack. Once it dries, you can sand down the repair and finish it off.

Yes, I have the tools to reweld abs, plastic, etc. Send me a pic, and if you want it finished, or just repaired.

how will it be refinished? will it be painted and if so what color? do you have samples of work youve done? how much? you can PM if you wish.

I also have a cracked shroud.

It can be refinished to original as close as possible, I have repaired HD hard saddlebags, and finsh them painted, so about any finish. If I cannot match a finish, I can paint the complete part, I know shrouds are NOT painted, but my mixing of colors, flat, semi, etc, can get darn close. The repair cost is decided by the size, and gap, or missing parts. I am going on vacation tom for a week, and will talk more once back, if interested.
