I'd just like to know where the pics are coming from...

I found those two pics I posted on another site.

And this is from today's Tulsa World paper online:

Despite the discovery, organizers said late Wednesday that they think the car may be in reasonably good shape.

"It's not a rust bucket," said Art Couch of W.N. Couch Construction, after he and Jim Taylor of Taylor Crane examined the steel skid on which the car rests.

"We felt the sides of the car and it's solid," Couch said.

Just have to wait and see I guess.

I heard that DuWayne, Boyd's pet monkey is bringing a hand pump, jumper cables and an inflatable donut for Boyd. Boyd is bringing his eighty plus years of experience and a spray can of "That New Car Smell" with him.

Why do you think the bag is ripped? Remember yesterday when they put up the plastic so noone could see in? Don't you think they ripped it open to see what kind of shape the car is in??

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the car is going to be 98% perfect, and start on the first try!

Future Past: Here are the top five things people in 1957 thought might be said when the buried Plymouth was exhumed in the far-distant future (2007):

1. "Mama! Look! That old car only has two fins!"

2. "Son, that old automobile has a lot of paint on it with some chrome doodads stuck on it. Nowadays, we just chrome-plate the whole [Edited by Moparts - Keep it clean] vehicle."

3. "Man, those fins sure are tiny compared with today's cars."

4. "Those black rubber things are called 'tires', children. In those days, vehicles had to roll along on the ground because they couldn't fly."

5. "Ya know, that old car's motor runs on a liquid fuel called gasoline. We used to have to buy it at special stores, called 'gasoline stations'. Not like today, when - if we're low on fuel - we can just pick up a new plutonium rod at the 7-11."

Are they going to clean the car up first? I definetly want to see pics of it fresh with the cover off before they do any more. I still think it will be in decent shape... those older cars sure last better than the late 60s/70s junk!

This is what I was thinking, that maybe they opened it either to brace themselves and ready plan B, or possibly to see/let out any water that was trapped in the bag so as to not overload the steel skid. All in all its going to be interesting tommorrow. BTW didn't that "tear" look pretty straight and possible man-made?

Wasn't the car white??? The fin looks the same dirt color as the outside of the bag.

If they tore it intentionally, they also brushed mud on the paint, bumper, and tail light lense.

In the now classic words of Joe Dirt:

"That s*** will buff out!"

Seriously though, they lifted the car on the original skid. Is it just me or did that thing look flimsy in 1957?

50 years of rust and the thing still held the weight of the car, I'm thinking positive. Boyd and his chimps won't be able to fire it up and drive around, but I don't think the car is pile of rot.
